Gender Sensitization
GUEST TALK
As per the circular by UGC Circular D.O. No. F.91-3/2024 (GS) dated November 22, 2024, KSOP hosted a highly impactful guest talk on “Gender Sensitization” on December 06, 2024.
The programme commenced with welcoming of the Guest Speakers Dr. Meeta Mahar, Technical Lead, Engender Health and Ms. Rody Gangte, Senior Manager-Strategy & Partnerships Lead, Engender Health, New Delhi by Honorable Principal Dr. K. Nagarajan, KIET School of Pharmacy, KIET Group of Institutions with Oxy plants.
The talk, started by Ms. Rody Gangte, aimed to raise awareness about their organization Engender Health, and their core impact areas committed to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) issues and to deliver survivor-centered GBV services.
Dr. Meeta Mahar, Technical Lead, Engender Health, expressed the perspectives on Gender Sensitization. She conducted an exercise with the audience to critically examine their own views and behaviors towards gender and sex, as these beliefs often shape social norms and influence actions. She mainly emphasized to educate attendees about the concept of gender sensitization; roles of gender in society and legislation related to gender-based violence.
The speaker discussed various forms of gender-based bias, highlighting the real-world examples such as gender disparities in workplaces, politics, education, and media representation.
The session was attended by 118 students of Diploma/UG/PG students as well as faculty members and staff, making it a well-received and important event in promoting inclusivity and gender awareness within the institution.
The session ended with felicitating the guest speakers with a gift hamper as a token of gratitude and thanks giving session from respected Principal Dr. Nagarajan, KSOP.
